Beers, bros and the ultimate backyard, the Pink Motel… This party in the Pink was one good time for all. When you need a dose of the brotherhood of skateboarding, here it is. There was endless heckling and boards tapping on the coping all night long. Special guests included some of the heaviest characters in skateboarding with Rick Blackhart cheering and jeering every run, while Malba emceed and tried to control the flow of the session, and Duncan, Reategui, Ngoho, Skreech and a slew of hardcores partied their heads off. Badlanders massacred the deep end, while Lance Mountain provided decades of Pink Motel inspiration to the generations of skateboarders that got together for this bro-down. We could go on and make a giant list of names of all the pool warriors that were there and tell you how hard they all ripped, but check out this video instead and see for yourself. This is skateboarding.

Juice TV – Venice Skatepark Grand Opening

On October 3, 2009, a new chapter of Dogtown Chronicles began with the grand opening of the Venice Beach Skate Plaza in Venice, CA. A legendary array of skateboarding icons, sk8superstars, celebrities and rippers-on-the-rise made for a day that will go down in skateboarding history. Jesse Martinez, Christian Hosoi, Eric “Tuma” Britton, Aaron “Fingers” Murray, Cooksie, Scott Oster, Tim Jackson, Kelly Jackson, Ray Flores, Steve Olson, Alex Olson, Mark Jones, Brian Patch, Eddie Reategui, Dave Duncan, Darrell Delgado, Bennett Harada, as well as members of the Zephyr team: Bob “The Bullet” Biniak, Paul Constantineau, Allen Sarlo, Nathan Pratt, Cris Dawson and its creators: Jeff Ho, Craig Stecyk and Skip Engblom, were among the sk8/surf VIPs in attendance. Los Angeles’ Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Councilman Bill Rosendahl were on hand for the ribbon cutting ceremony. With blistering skateboarding being thrown down in the bowl, snake run and street course, the neighborhood christened the new 16,000 square foot world class skatepark and “took the power back”. Respect the tradition.
